We often pray for a great future, yet we forget that great futures are forged, not delivered. Destiny is not a gift placed in our hands, it is a strength built within us. And God, in His wisdom, uses adversity as the training ground.
Consider David. Long before he wore a crown, he wore the smell of sheep. Hidden in the fields, unnoticed by men, God was shaping a king.
The same hands that fought off lions and bears would later steady a sling aimed at Goliath. The same courage that guarded sheep would later defend Israel. David’s kingship did not begin in the palace, it began in the pasture.
And look at Joseph. Betrayed by his brothers, sold as a slave, imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit. Yet every setback was not a step backward, it was a step forward. The pit pushed him toward Egypt. Slavery trained him in leadership. Prison matured his character and sharpened his gift. What looked like detours were actually direct routes to his purpose. Joseph didn’t just become a prime minister; he was prepared to become one.
Your challenges are not a sign that God has abandoned you, they are evidence that He is preparing you.
The pasture is building your strength.
The prison is shaping your wisdom.
The painful places are perfecting your character.
Greatness does not happen when you arrive; greatness is what you become on the journey.
So, when adversity comes, don’t ask, “Why me?”
Ask, “What is God preparing me for?”
Because hidden in every challenge is a destiny being cultivated.
